Jason K. Lachenmeier, 33, Dickinson, died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at his home. Jason’s memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, June 4, 2010 at Dorothy Stickney Auditorium on the DSU campus, with Rev. Scott McKirdy officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue one hour prior to services on Friday.
Jason Kelly Lachenmeier was born January 12, 1977 in Hardin, Mont. He grew up and attended schools in Hardin, graduating from Hardin High School in 1995. While in school, he actively participated in football and excelled in wrestling. He was a member of Team Montana, a wrestling team who represented the state on a wrestling exchange to Germany and Australia. Jason was injured in an auto accident in 1996 and was relegated to a wheelchair. Jason also attended Dickinson State University. However, his disability did not deter him from encouraging and inspiring others. His greatest reward came from helping raise funds for children with cerebral palsy in support of Mitch’s Mighty Dickinson Riders, through the Great American Bike Race, MedCenter One, having raised several thousands of dollars.
Jason married Candace Weidner on September 2, 2000, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dickinson, and they have made Dickinson their home. Jason worked for the Dickinson Youth Activities, Inc. as a Black Jack Dealer at the Spur Bar for 11 years. He also assisted with coaching wrestling at DSU for five years. Jason was happiest on the lake in his boat fishing. He was an accomplished pool player and enjoyed every opportunity to meet people. Jason was an enthusiastic hockey fan, and loved spending time with his wife, family and making his friends laugh. Jason will be remembered for his fabulous grilling abilities, his wonderful laugh and never ending smile.
He will be greatly missed by his buddy “Church” and everyone that knew and loved him. Jason is survived by his wife, Candace; his parents, Mike (Karen) Lachenmeier, Carol (Bruce) White Bear, and Janene Duncan; his sister, Korah Lachenmeier; his brothers, Michael (Kristi), Josh (Lisa), and Matt (Gabby) Lachenmeier; his grandparents, Arlene Lachenmeier, Jim (Terri) Vandersloot, and Dorothy (Glen) Duncan; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jason was preceded in death by his grandpa, Lloyd, Lachenmeier. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the MedCenter One Great American Bike Race.
