George J. Olheiser, 82, Dickinson, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial for George will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding.
George J. Olheiser, Jr. was born January 14, 1928, near Schefield, the son of George, Sr. and Beata (Heidt) Olheiser. He was raised and educated in the Schefield area.
George married Mary Fichter on May 25, 1948 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Gladstone. They farmed together for a couple of years in the Hirschville area. The family then moved to Dickinson where George began a 60 plus year career in the tire business.
George and Mary enjoyed traveling and attending their grandchildren’s activities, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially spending time at the tire shop. George was a member of the St. Pius Verein and also a past member of the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department.
George is survived by his wife, Mary; five children, Janet (Ken) Sadowsky, Hot Springs, S.D., Larry (Julie) Olheiser, Dickinson, Rita (Kevin) Burwick, Aurora, Colo., Karen Olheiser, Parker, Colo., and Kim (Shelly) Olheiser, Dickinson; son-in-law, Del Quigley, Dickinson; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and eight sisters, Beatrice (Tony) Schwindt, Leona Reisenauer, Barbara Weiler, Agnes Olheiser, Rose Kitzan, Cecelia (Don) Samsen, Genevieve (Doug) Frisbee and Ida Kuntz. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Judy, five brothers, and one sister.
