Christ was born March 4, 1935 in Stark County of North Dakota, the son of John R. and Helen (Dukart) Heidt. He was raised and educated in the Schefield area. Christ married Mary Jean Hanel on April 22, 1958 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson.

Christ worked in construction and heavy equipment throughout his life. He built elevators, worked at Diamond Equipment, owned and operated three milk trucks, and prior to retiring worked for 18 years with Stark County. During this time he was involved in placing the star on Rocky Butte, and also was instrumental in placing the fighter plane near the band shell.

Christ belonged to the St. Pius Verein and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed going to auctions, working with his Ford tractor, was an avid stock car racing fan, and looked forward to Fridays when he and Kenny went to the diner for breakfast and to visit with friends. He especially cherished the time that was spent with his grandchildren and the rest of the family.

Christ is survived by his wife, Mary Jean; their four children, Ken Heidt, Dickinson, Dee Ann Heidt, Jamestown, Terry (Brad) Meidinger, Dickinson, and Ron (Julie) Heidt, Dickinson; three sisters, Rose Mary Heidt, Eleanor Sand and Helen (Ray) Sand, Dickinson; sisters-in-law, Lollie Heidt and Caroline Heidt, Dickinson; and five special grandchildren, Mitch and Eric Meidinger, Nathan, Audrey and Brandon Heidt. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jerome, Louie and Rudy; and a brother-in-law, Walter Sand.
