Edward “Ed” Kraft, 58, Dickinson died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Ed’s funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Hillside Baptist Church, Dickinson with Rev. Ronald Gold officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at the Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, and the family will be present to greet friends at the funeral home. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services.

Ed was born in Minneapolis, Minn. On March 16, 1951, the son of Edward and Lillian (Glass) Kraft. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1969, and went on to earn a degree in Chemical Engineering from UND in 1974.

Ed married Donna Thiessen on August 10, 1974 in Grand Forks, and they were blessed with four children and three grandchildren. Ed worked for Amoco Oil in Casper, Wyo., and Denver, Colo., prior to moving to Dickinson where they made their home. While in Dickinson, he worked for Amerada Hess in Fryburg, and Dakota Gasification in Beulah and later transferred to the Bismarck office before retiring in 2006.

Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved fishing, hunting and gardening.

Ed is survived by his wife, Donna; their four children, Angela (Jeremy) Vigil, Arvada, Colo., Amy (Jason) Kubas, Hugo, Minn., Rachel (Andy) Moen, Coon Rapids, Minn., and Tim (Kaity) Kraft, Dickinson; three grandchildren, Megan Kubas, Makinzie Kubas and Garrett Moen; his mother, Lillian Kraft, Bismarck; his brothers and sisters, Gary (Lahna) Kraft, Margaret Kiefer, Eileen Bavendick, Lory (Russ) Nelson, Marci (Ron) Schorsch, Colleen (Vic) Fortino and Joe (Brandi) Kraft; and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vern (Cheryl) Thiessen, John Thiessen and Shirley Thiessen. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Arbor Day Association.
