Cary A. Marsh, 57, Dickinson, died Friday, April 17, 2009 in Dickinson. Cary’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, April 20, 2009 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Jeff Zwack as the celebrant. Interment will take place at the St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m.
Cary was born January 6, 1952 to George C. and Martha (Rambousek) Marsh at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dickinson. He grew up on the family farm in Dunn County. Cary attended Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Grade School, New Hradec, St. Mary’s High School, New England and Trinity High School, Dickinson. He furthered his education at The North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, and later at Williston State College in Williston.
Cary worked at various businesses around Dickinson before beginning a career as an over the road truck driver. Cary drove truck for 17 years, enabling him to visit all of the lower 48 states. Cary was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Cary enjoyed spending time with his friends, and nieces and nephews. He loved his pets and had a great fondness for horses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding motorcycle. He also enjoyed reading western novels and was a huge fan of John Wayne, owning many, many John Wayne videos. Recently Cary learned the art of rug weaving, which he found to be very relaxing.
Cary is survived by his mother, Martha Marsh; his step-children, Nicole and David; two sisters, Anita (Alvin) Steffan and Tammy Dvorak, Dickinson; his brother, Cally (DeeAnn) Marsh, Dickinson; nine nieces and nephews, Sonya (John) Privratsky, Barry, Darcy and JC Steffan, Ken and Kevin Dvorak, Ciarra, Alannah and Logan Marsh; and six great-nieces and nephews, Evan, Seth, Eldon, Ashlyn, Caleb and Lelani Privratsky. Cary was preceded in death by his father, George C. Marsh; paternal grandparents, Anton and Philomina (Prybl) Marsh; maternal grandparents, Anton and Mary (Luptak) Rambousek; and his fiancée Penny Urbanec.
