Edward F. “Ed” Trinka, 62, Dickinson died Monday, August 25, 2008 at his home. Ed’s Mass of Christian Burial will at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2008 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with Military Honors proved by the Veterans Drill Team. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be a vigil at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.
Edward Frank Trinka was born June 2, 1946 in Dickinson the son of Frank G. and Pauline (Meduna) Trinka. He was raised on the family farm north of Manning while attending school in Killdeer.
Ed joined the United States Navy and served from October 18, 1963 to July 1, 1967. Following his discharge from the Navy he moved to Oregon and worked as a welder on the railroad and also worked in the steel mills. Ed returned to North Dakota where he worked for a period of time prior to joining the United States Army. He served honorably in the Army from May 6, 1975 to May 4, 1979. Upon his discharge he returned to North Dakota and went to work in the oil fields until 1984. At this time Ed moved to Colorado where he earned his trucking license and for the next 22 years, drove truck until 1996. He has spent the past two years working at Wal-Mart in Dickinson.
In his spare time Ed enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, camping, visiting with friends and family, and the relaxation of working in the garden.
Ed is survived by his sister, Edith (David) Steckler, Dickinson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and four aunts and one uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother, Arthur.
