John Dassinger, Jr., 75, Dickinson died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at his home. John’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2008 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7:30 p.m..
John Dassinger, Jr. was born March 20, 1933 on the family farm near Lefor, ND, the son of John and Susie (Lampl) Dassinger, Sr.. He was raised and educated in the Lefor area while helping his parents on the farm. They remained on the farm until the mid 1950’s when they moved into Dickinson.
John married Dorothy Chalupnik on July 17, 1960 in Dickinson. John worked for the Experiment Station prior to going to work for Kolling Construction where he remained until retiring in the mid 1980’s. He continued to keep himself busy by doing yard work and carpentry work for others in the community. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to music, working in the garden, going fishing and taking care of their yard.
John is survived by his wife, Dorothy; their son, Albert Dassinger, Dickinson; two sisters, Alice Olheiser, Dickinson and Delores Reisenauer, Bismarck; one brother, Charles Dassinger, South Heart; one brother-in-law, Harlen Heinle, Dickinson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alvina Heinle; and two brothers-in-law, Tony Olheiser and Walter Reisenauer.
