Elmer Glovatsky, 60, Grassy Butte, ND, died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at his home. Elmer’s funeral service will be at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2008 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Dickinson with Dr. Douglas Morgan presiding. Interment will follow at the Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
Elmer Lee Glovatsky was born July 4, 1947 in Killdeer, ND the son of Pete and Lillian (Dobroskay) Glovatsky. He was raised on the family place near Grassy Butte where he attended school through the 8th grade. Elmer then attended the Sheyenne River Academy in Harvey, ND, graduating in 1965. He went on to Union College in Lincoln, Neb., graduating with degrees in Elementary Education and Theology in 1969. Elmer went on to teach school for six years prior to moving back to the family place to begin farming and ranching.
Elmer married Dianne Barrett on June 17, 1973 in Dickinson and together they raised their family of five children in the Grassy Butte area. Elmer was president of the Little Knife Royalty Owners Association, the OCIA (Organic Crop Improvement Association), and the NRA.
Elmer was a caring loving husband and father who centered on his family. His passions included; music, photography, traveling, inspirational speaking, bird watching, being outdoors, and most importantly spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his smiles, determination, unwavering faith, humor, support, thoughtfulness, integrity, ingenuity, resourcefulness, creativity, and his endeavor for perfection. Elmer’s honor and dedication to God’s service was unwavering and seen by all who knew him best.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Dianne; their five children, Heather Glovatsky, Orlando, Fla., Priscilla Glovatsky, Orlando, Fla., Bryce Glovatsky, Portland, Ore., Marlan Glovatsky, Portland, Ore., and Brandon (Bethany) Glovatsky, Portland, Ore.; one granddaughter, Adriana Glovatsky; one brother, Tim (Debbie) Glovatsky, Minneapolis, Minn.; and one nephew, Gabe Glovatsky. He was preceded in death by his parents.
