Charles “Charlie” W. Alpert, 92, Richardton, ND died Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Richardton Memorial Hospital and Health Center. Charlie’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, February 21, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church, Richardton with Rev. Steven Schou officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson and will continue one hour prior to service time at the church.

Charles W. Alpert was born April 19, 1915 on the family farm south of Richardton to William C.F. and Emma (Nolte) Alpert. Charlie received his education in rural schools. He worked on the farm until joining the US Army in March 1942. He served in the Aleutian Islands, Germany, and Central Europe. After his honorable discharge in October 1945 he worked for several businesses in the Richardton area. Charlie began taking classes from De Vry Technical Institute in electronics and later started his own business, Chuck’s Radio and TV Repair. He owned and operated his business until his retirement.

Charlie was a charter member of the Theodore Roosevelt Armature Radio Club and a member of the Richardton American Legion Theo R. Zech Post #180. He was also active in the St. John Lutheran Church and “The Friday nite Gang”. In Charlie’s spare time he enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, and playing any musical instrument.

Charlie is survived by his sister, Shirley Bowman, Detroit MI, his brother William A. (Agnes) Alpert, Richardton, one sister-in-law, Janice Alpert, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ted and Francis, three sisters and their husbands, Emma (Henry) Treiber, Elvira (Ed) Hintz, and Lucille (Clifton) Coleman, brother-in-law, Dan Bowman, and one infant brother Arnold.
