Katherine Marthaller, 89, Dickinson, ND, died Sunday, March 4, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Katherine’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2007 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Jeff Zwack as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunny Slope Cemetery, Mott with Fr. Charles Zins presiding. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding. There will be no visitation at the church.

Katherine Kuntz was born May 3, 1917 on the family farm near Hebron, ND, the daughter of Mike and Scholastica (Judd) Kuntz. She was raised and educated in the Hebron area.

Katherine married Alvin Marthaller on May 19, 1935 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Hebron. Together they farmed in the Mott-Regent area until 1968 when they moved into Dickinson. For several years in Dickinson she worked at the Dickinson Nursing Center. Her husband Alvin died on January 6, 1998.

Katherine belonged to the Catholic Daughters while living in Hebron. She enjoyed cooking for her family and had a special knack for German Potato Salad. She enjoyed working on puzzles, playing cards and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Katherine is survived by her eight children, James (Regina), Mandan, Lary (Carolyn), Dickinson, Marvin (Bev), Dickinson, Marlene (Don) Wagendorf, Regent, Rosalie Burwick, Dickinson, Robert (Twila), Harvey, Stanley (Mary), Bismarck, and Myron (Joyce), Orange County, CA; three sisters, Betty Barth, Spokane, WA, Barbara Truman, Pennsylvania and Frances Roll, Bismarck; one brother, John Kuntz, Dickinson; 32 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and 10 great, great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three grandchildren, one great-grandson, three sisters, and three brothers.
