Ferdinand “Ferd” Forster, 81, Richardton, ND, died Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the Richardton Health Center. Ferd’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Visitation will continue from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday at the church with a rosary and vigil at 8 p.m., with Deacon Gary Quintus presiding.
Ferdinand Forster was born June 3, 1925 in Richardton, ND, the son of Ferdinand and Emilia (Renner) Forster. He was raised and educated north of Richardton.
Ferd married Isabelle Erhardt on June 4, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They farmed north of Richardton until 1958 when they moved to a farm south west of Halliday. Together they farmed, ranched raised their family and Ferd also trucked and custom combined during this time. Retiring in 2001, Ferd and Isabelle returned to Richardton where they have made their home since.
He enjoyed playing cards, working on crossword puzzle books, visiting friends and especially spending time with his family.
Ferd is survived by his wife, Isabelle; their five children, Judy (George) Pavlicek, Dickinson, Greg (Janel) Forster, Dickinson, Dorothy (Robert) Wurm, Breckinridge, MN, Steve (Marlene) Forster, Dickinson, and Edward (friend-Danette) Forster, Dickinson; daughter-in-law, Karen Lynn (Mike) Meier, Mott; four sisters, Sr. Olivia Forster, St. Joseph, MN, Norma (Allen) Chadwick, Delano, MN, Patricia (Raymond) Holupchinski, Woodbury, MN, and Margaret (Gerald) Colbert, Fountain Hills, AZ; three brothers, Floyd (Retta) Forster, Puyallup, WA, Larry (Sally) Forster, New Salem, and Erhard “Bud” (Judy) Forster, Wyoming; seven granddaughters; one grandson; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David L. Forster; two brothers, Elmer and Richard; one sister, Alice; one-half sister, Agnes; and an infant brother and sister. Arrangements are with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.
