Elsie Schneider, 93, Bismarck, met her Lord and Savior on August 1, 2022. It was a day she looked forward to and is now in the arms of Jesus. She had been a resident of The Terrace. Elsie’s Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. MDT/ 11 a.m., CDT, Friday, August 5, 2022 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Pastor David Ling officiating. Interment will follow at First Baptist Cemetery, Hebron.
Elsie was born November 16, 1928 in Antelope, to Gottlieb and Eva (Sayler) Schneider. She graduated from Hebron High School and attended Dickinson State College. Elsie taught school for two years then pursued a civil service career working at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, and Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX. She concluded her career working with the Forest Service in Missoula, MT, Antelope Valley, CA, and Indian Health Service in St. Ignatius, MT. Upon retirement, Elsie returned to Missoula then to North Dakota to live in Hebron and Dickinson. While in Dickinson she volunteered with Hospice, the Tourist Information Center, United Way and the House of Manna. She was a self-taught pianist and enjoyed providing keyboard entertainment when the opportunity presented. Elsie had a deep faith and was a dedicated prayer warrior for her family.
Elsie came from a large family and was the ninth child in a family of fifteen. She will be missed by her sister, Rose Voegele, Bismarck; brother Stanley (Lila) Schneider, Hebron; sisters-in-law, Harriet Schneider, Hebron, Kathy Schneider, Spearfish, SD, and Diane (Ken) Nordquist, Upland, CA; special friend, Valerie Hanson, Bismarck; and many nephews and nieces.
Family who preceded Elsie in death were her parents; brothers, Emil (Martha), Reuben (Lorraine), Clarence (Esther), Reiny, Robert and Roy Schneider; sisters, Edna (Rudolph) Drecksel, Martha (Albert) Staiger, Anne (Paul) Metzger, Adeline (Harold) Reichenberg, Lorraine (Cletus) Wiser, Helen (Herb) Larson; and brother-in-law, Gordon Voegele.
