Joan “ Niki” Poitras, 41, Dickinson, died on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at her home with family by her side. Private family services will take place at a later date.
Joan Nichole Poitras was born on December 8, 1980 in Brevard County, Florida, the daughter of Francis J. and Joan F, (Gillert) Poitras. She was raised and educated in Cocoa, Florida where she received an Associates Degree from Brevard Community College.
She moved to North Dakota in 2013 to reunite with her childhood friend and sweetheart, Jared Stowe. In 2018 they started an oilfield business together, “Superior Oilfield LLC.
Niki was united in marriage to Jared in 2022 in Florence. Following a family vacation to Mississippi in 2022, they fell in love with the Florence area and purchased a home with hopes of retiring there.
Niki loved rocks, minerals and geology. She also loved animals and enjoyed caring for strays.
Niki is survived by her husband, Jared; children, Jase Davis and Chase Davis both of Dickinson; step-children, Brooks Stowe and Bennett Stowe, both of Dickinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Joan Poitras; and her brother, James Michael Gillert.
