Philip Banyai, 97, Dickinson, died Thursday, December 29, 2022 at CHI St. Alexius, Dickinson. Philip’s Liturgy of Word Service will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2023 at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding. Entombment will take place at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Philip was born December 8, 1925 in Dickinson to Karl and Katie (Bogner-Klupp) Banyai. He attended school in Lefor. On October 1, 1946 he was united in marriage to Marie Schneider at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Lefor. They lived on a farm northwest of Lefor until 1987, at which time they moved to Dickinson.
He enjoyed farming and ranching, fixing things, playing musical instruments, especially accordion, playing cards, dancing and woodworking.
Philip is survived by his five sons, Dennis (Lynn), Farmington, Utah, Gary (Betty Lou), Dickinson, Rodney, Sioux Falls, S.D., Charles (Sheila), Sioux Falls, and Neil (Jennifer), Sioux Falls; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and his brother, Jacob, Salt Lake, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; and his parents.
