Gary L. Biffert, 78, Hebron, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Marian Manor Healthcare Center, Glen Ullin with family by his side. Gary’s Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the First Baptist Church, Hebron, with Rev. David Ling officiating.
Gary was born in Richardton on October 3, 1944, the oldest of three, to Alfred and Martha (Gunsch) Biffert.
He lived in Mandan and Dickinson before moving to South Dakota where he met his first wife, Lucille Maggard. They were married on October 5, 1963 and to this union three children were born, Lisa, Cheri and Gary Lee Jr. Gary and Lucille moved to southern Indiana in 1966 where he worked in a bakery for 20 years. Lucille passed away on July 6, 1978.
Gary was united in marriage to Vera Dyer on November 14, 1980. In the Fall of 1985, they moved to North Dakota to follow his dream to farm and ranch. Vera passed away in 2010, after which he retired from farming and ranching. His daughter and son-in-law took over the farm.
Gary married Darlys “Dolly” Walth on November 24, 2016 and they resided in Hebron. Due to his failing health, he entered Marian Manor Nursing Home on December 30, 2022.
He loved traveling and camping with his motor home. Nobody was a stranger to him and he always had a smile.
Gary is survived by his wife, Dolly Walth; daughter, Cheri (Ken) Hochhalter, Mott; grandchildren, Cody (Deanna) Biffert, Caine Biffert, Shalee (Kyle) Lawton, Zachary Hochhalter, and Alexander Hochhalter; great-grandchildren, Ella Anderson and AnnLise Biffert, Brooklyn Lawton, Presley Lawton, and Nathan Bates; step-children, Mark (Cindy) Dyer, Matt Dyer, John Dyer, Grant (Kathy) Walth, Bonnie Dahmus, Lori (Mark) Kottre, and Julie (Dan) Erickson; 14 step-grandchildren; 27 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Donna (Roy) Leech, brother-in-law, Gaylen (Lois) Hintz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, brother, daughter, son, step-daughter, and step-grandson.
