Irene Gawryluk, 79, Dickinson, died on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Sanford Health Bismarck. Irene’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Robert Shea as celebrant. Inurnment will take place at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Belfield.
Irene Gawryluk was born on December 19, 1943 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson, the daughter of James and Annie (Gauthier) Gawryluk. She was raised and educated in Belfield, having attended Belfield Public School.
Irene married Leon Steele on December 22, 1960 in Dickinson and to this union two children were born, Thelma Annie and John Willard. They were later divorced and Irene traveled around, eventually returning to Dickinson where she spent the remainder of her life with family and her special friend, Martin and his family. Irene and Martin worked and enjoyed life together. She especially loved his jokes. After his passing, she missed him very much and awaited to be reunited in Heavenly Father’s Grace.
Irene is survived by her children, Thelma Annie and John Willard; two half sisters, Carol White, Mesa, AZ, and Margaret Sass, Maddock; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roger Gawryluk; half sister, Patricia Decker; half brother, Harold Gawryluk; aunts, uncles, cousins and best friend, Martin.
