Lolita Lee Cameron, 89, Baker, died on Monday, October 2, 2023, at the Fallon Medical Complex with her family by her side. A private graveside service was held at Bonnievale Cemetery.
Lolita Lee Yokley was born March 28, 1934, at her grandmother’s home in Baker. She was the daughter of Robert Lee Yokley, Jr., and Isabelle (Speelmon) Yokley. She graduated salutatorian of Baker High School class of 1952. The following year, she taught at the Yokley country school near Willard. On June 5, 1953, Lolita married Butch Cameron in Miles City, MT. To this union, two children were born, Terry and Pam.
Lolita was employed by the State of Montana for 22 years as an eligibility technician in Fallon, Wibaux, and Carter counties. She volunteered for many organizations throughout her life, including Girl Scouts, 4-H, and the Fallon County Museum. After retirement, she was active with the Baker RSVP program. She was named Senior Citizen of the Year in 2001.
Throughout Lolita’s life, she overcame many challenges and obstacles. She was especially proud of the fact that she was a 70-year polio survivor.
Lolita was preceded in death by her husband, Butch, in 2001; her siblings, infant sister, Mary Elizabeth, Robert A. Yokley, Laura Morse, and Roberta Pero.
Lolita is survived by her children, Terry Cameron and Pam (Monte) Beach; her grandchildren, Ian (Anna), Erin (David), Kayla (Alex), and Dylan (Kadie); 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Rosemarie Cameron Dahlman and best friend and co-worker, Betty Mueller.
