Jacqueline A. (Francis) Sorkness, 86, Dickinson, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2023 at home. Private family services will be held.
Jacqueline A. Francis was born on September 6, 1937 in Northampton, England, the daughter of John and Violet (Smith) Francis.
Jacqueline met Stanley Sorkness while he was serving in the United States Air Force. They married on May 19, 1955 in Northampton, England. They returned to North Dakota to make their home. She was the co-owner of S and S Tropical Fish in Fargo, ND for five years, until they moved to Dickinson where she became a housewife. She loved gardening, hunting, talking about England when she was a child, going to Deadwood, SD and gambling.
Jacqueline is survived by her children, Virginia (Frank) Schmidt, Bowman, Ricky (Cindy) Sorkness, West Fargo, and Farley (Kris) Sorkness, Dickinson; grandchildren, Shari (Travis) Tuttle, Aaron Sorkness, Mike (Tracy) Schmidt, Nicole (Eric) Keller and Tanner Sorkness; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Sorkness, on January 14, 2023; her parents; and her brother, Michael J. Francis.
