Leo Aman, 92, Richardton, died Friday, June 7, 2024 at Hill Top Home Of Comfort, Killdeer, with family at his side. Leo’s Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, with Fr. Thomas Wordekemper, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Military Honors will be provided by the Richardton American Legion Theo R. Zech Post 180 and the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard, following the service. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a Rosary & Vigil at 6:30 p.m., with Deacon Robert Bohn presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday.

Leo John Aman was born October 20, 1931 at Richardton, the son of Peter J. and Monica (Eckroth) Aman. He was raised and educated in Richardton. Leo joined the United States Army and had served honorably from March 19, 1952 to February 20, 1954, with 11 months having been in Korea.

Leo returned to the Richardton area where he was united in marriage to Betty Gaab on October 24, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton. He had worked for the Stuber Hereford Ranch, Bowman, George Gress Farm, Dickinson, Rudy Svihovec Farm, Mott, and 24 years with the Schnell Ranch, Richardton. Following his retirement from Schnell’s, he went to work for the Philip Messer Farm for 10 years.

Leo and Betty made Richardton their home where they raised five sons. The past five months he has been a resident of Hill Top Home of Comfort.

He belonged to the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, and served on the Richardton Fire District as Director, and the Vector Board. He enjoyed gardening, collecting scrap iron, petrified rock, and especially ranching.

Leo is survived by his wife, Betty; sons, Bryan (Kathleen) Aman, Butte, MT, Bruce (Shanda) Aman, Richardton, Mark Aman, Richardton, and Dale (Connie) Aman, Dickinson; 12 grandchildren, Amanda Hatcher, Lacey Aman, Lindsey O’Conner, Jesse Aman, Brandon Aman, Dustin Aman, Tanya Aman, Ashlyn Helfrich, Tiffany Rohrbach, Courtney Aman, Logan Aman, and Landon Aman. 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Frances Boespflug, Baker, MT, Florence Staudinger, Mott, Clarence Aman, Rexburg, Idaho, Clarice Kostelecky, Seattle, WA, and Rich (Patricia) Aman, St. Louis, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Aman; and daughter-in-law, Sheri Aman.
