Lorraine C. Wayland passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, August 21, 2024 in Dickinson, ND from her battle with cancer.
Born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada to Lawrence and Helga Ferrill, Lorraine’s family moved several times before establishing their roots in Texas. Once in Texas, Lorraine enjoyed barrel racing with her horse “Rebel”. She earned a B.A. in History and English from North Texas State University and later completed further education at the University of Memphis in Accounting and Auditing.
Lorraine was an avid traveler, enjoying learning about different cultures and enjoyed just getting on a plane. She was hard-working and a fighter, having once survived inflammatory breast cancer when she was in her 40’s. She retired from the State of Texas as an auditor and supported ASPCA. Lorraine had a strong bond with her Yorkie, Grace, who kept her companionship during her battle.
She is survived by her former husband, Paul Wayland, their three children, Kelly Kadrmas (Jim), Greg Wayland (Melanie), and Christopher Wayland, and three grandchildren, Kaci Kadrmas, Breya Kadrmas, and William Wayland. She leaves behind her brother Larry Ferrill (Rebecca), brother Lance Ferrill (Louanna), and brother Randy Ferrill. She is preceded in death by her sister, Valerie Hackney and her husband, Gary Hackney. She will be missed.
