Stephanie Marie Moss, 70, Dickinson, died Friday, July 26, 2024, in Phoenix, AZ, with family by her side. Graveside service will be held Friday, September 13, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding.
Stephanie was born August 9, 1953, in Dickinson, the daughter of John and Selma (Hecker) Schmidt. She was raised on a farm south of Belfield. She attended elementary school in Fryburg, ND and graduated high school in Belfield, ND. She continued her education at Dickinson State University for a teaching certification.
After marrying Bruce Lee Moss, Stephanie and Bruce moved around the country while he served in the military, living in South Dakota, Colorado, and Georgia. Bruce died in Germany on July 3, 1981, during his enlistment. Stephanie and her children then spent most of their years back in Dickinson. She also spent two years in Wright, Wyoming working as a substitute teacher.
Stephanie’s favorite pastimes included reading, knitting/crocheting, and visiting with friends and family. She was the most comfortable in her home finding fulfillment in supporting her neighbors.
During an extended visit with her daughter in Phoenix, AZ, Stephanie became ill and was placed on comfort care at Hospice of the Valley prior to her death.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce; and her brother, Ray Schmidt.
She is survived by her children, Aaron (Melissa) Moss, Dickinson, Steve Moss, Fargo, and Lisa Jo Urban, Phoenix; her grandchildren, Saraya and Liberty; her sisters, Jolayne (Dale) Miller and Julie (Doug) Schmidt; and her nephews, Casey, Chris, and Levi.
