Myron’s Parastas will be at 10 a.m, Thursday, April 10, 2025 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fairfield with Fr. Stepan Ivanchyk as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Cemetery, Ukrainia. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a Rosary and Panakhyda at 6 p.m.

Myron William Romanyshyn was born August 1, 1951 to Eugene and Lena (Kasian) Romanyshyn. Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather; cherished Brother, Uncle, Friend; Myron was always close with a helping hand or words of wisdom.

His education consisted of Snow School by Fairfield, Belfield High School, and trade school at Denver School of Automotive. Myron enlisted in the US Army on June 1, 1970. He went to basic training at Fort Polk, LA and jump school at Fort Benning, GA. Myron wanted to fight alongside his two brothers in Vietnam but was disappointed when he was stationed in Germany in Communications.

After the Army he spent a few years in Australia near Perth. He loved his time there and visited throughout the years. He returned to ND in 1975 to do farm work for his Uncle George Hurinenko north of Fairfield.

In 1978 he joined Conklin Products and started his own roofing business. In 1980, he married his wife, Sandra Bauer. He and his family moved to Rapid City, SD the summer of 1982 where his business and family flourished and continued to grow. Myron semi-retired in 1994 and moved back to ND where they continued to raise their family north of South Heart. Never one to be idle, he continued his roofing company in the summers.

As winters became too harsh, Myron started going south for a few months out of the year. He decided on the Bull Head City, AZ area and purchased property where he loved to gamble, host friends and family, and show them the sights.

Hunting was one of his favorite things to do with his kids and grandkids. He hunted the “Myron way” and whether we wanted it or not we got his advice and his version of “encouragement” when it came to shooting. But he was happy to show us the good hunting spots then take a little nap in the pickup while we waited for the deer to come out.

Myron was always full of life and never short of stories. Whether he knew you or just met you he had a knack for starting up a conversation. He did not shy away from the topics of politics and religion and was admired for his strong convictions. He was very proud of his grandkids and had quite a soft spot for them. He had a twinkle in his eye when talking about them or with them. He had a laugh that was unmistakably Myron, his eyes and laugh could light up a room. He was full of energy and had his own euphemisms like “If you don’t get close enough to the edge of the world, how do you ever expect to fall off…?”

He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He could always be counted on for Memorial Day and Funerals. As a devout Ukrainian Catholic, his faith was strong, and he was grounded in the Ukrainian culture.

Myron is survived by his wife, Sandra Romanyshyn, Belfield; his children, Milissa Bauer, South Heart, John (Jerica) Romanyshyn, Belfield, Natalie Romanyshyn, Dillworth, MN, Michael (Kayla) Romanyshyn, Belfield, and Nathan (MeKenzie Lee) Romanyshyn, Belfield; grandkids, Kaleb and Kinsey Romanyshyn; Landan Romanyshyn, Zander and Evlynn Brown; Martha, Reese, Sylvia, and Myles Romanyshyn; and Raphtalia Romanyshyn; siblings, Constantine “Curt” Romanyshyn, Fairfield, Roy (Sharon) Romanyshyn, Dickinson, and Edwin Romanyshyn, Fairfield; brothers-in-law, Keith McNeil and Joe Magalsky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patricia McNeil, and Elaine Magalsky; brother, Sylvester “Sy” (Deb)  Romanyshyn.
