Paul G. Heidt, 93, Dickinson, died Friday, April 4, 2025 surrounded by his family at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Paul’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Justin Waltz as Celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Military Honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to the Mass at the church. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Ross Reiter presiding.

Paul George Heidt was born November 19, 1931, at home south of New England to George and Emma (Wandler) Heidt. He was educated in South Heart, having graduated from high school in 1950. He then went to work for Northern Pacific Railroad in Warm Spring, MT. In 1952 he was drafted into the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge in 1954, he returned to ND and worked at the Railway Express Agency, then Dickinson Air Service, where he began flight training under the GI Bill obtaining his instrument rated commercial pilot’s license and worked for the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller starting in 1959 and promoted to manager in 1980.

Paul met Betty Anderson in 1955 and after dating for two years they were married on August 10, 1957. Paul had many interests including bowling, fishing, and was a talented woodworker known for making many grandfather clocks for family and friends.

Paul is survived by his wife, Betty; his children, Greg (Jan) Heidt, Brenda Kraiter (Wayne Berry) and Deb (Pat) Kovar, all of Dickinson; six grandchildren, Brittany (Adam), Michael (Jileasa), Amanda (Matt), Derek, Jacob, and Thomas; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret Heidt, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John (Maxine), Tony, Fred, and Larry (Helen); sisters, Katie (Frank), Jennie (Steven), Clara (William), and Elaine (Val).
