Edward “Ed” J. Barth, 87, Dickinson, died on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Ed’s Rosary & Liturgy of Word Service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2025 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Deacon Ron Keller presiding. Military Honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Inurnment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Edward J. Barth was born July 13, 1937 in rural Mott, the son of Lee and Frances (Berger) Barth. Ed went to school at Cherry Butte School near Regent through the eighth grade. Ed enlisted in the United States Army and served from March 9, 1961—March 8, 1963. Upon his honorable discharge he worked in various construction and carpentry, having been self employed until his retirement.
Edward was united in marriage to Betty Jane Urlacher on September 20, 1966 and together they had four children, Michael, Marvin, Michele, and Mary.
He was a member of the St. Pius Verein.
Edward is survived by his children, Michael (Michelle) Barth, Marvin (Char) Barth, and Michele (Robert) Trimble; seven grandchildren, Matthew Barth, McKaylyn Barth, Nathan Barth, Kadin Barth, Briana Trimble, Joshua Trimble, and Caleb Trimble; siblings, Daniel (Clarce), Bernard, Rose Schmaltz, and Janette (Tom) Porter; and sisters-in-law, Shirley, Karen, Marlene, and Terri.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Barth, February 21, 2024; his infant daughter, Mary; his parents; siblings, Hilaria Schmitz, Mathew, Reinhard, Kasper, and Raymond.
