Inurnment will take place at the Dickinson Mausoleum.
Terry James Werlinger was born in Stanley on October 9, 1953 to William and Olivia (Lyson) Werlinger of Parshall. Terry was the sixth child of 14 and was raised in Parshall where he excelled as a state wrestler, in baseball, and as a Golden Glove boxer. After high school he spent time coaching Parshall’s Legion Baseball Team where he had a knack for coaching and getting the best of his players.
He left Parshall to attend college at Dickinson State University. It was in Dickinson where he met the love of his life Connie Sand. The two soulmates were wed shortly after meeting, and they had two sons Chad and Jason. In Dickinson, Terry worked in the oilfield and enjoyed his time playing softball and coaching boxing while raising his family. In 1985, Terry lost three fingers in a work accident and the family later relocated to Kent, WA in 1988. One year after moving to Washington, Terry lost his youngest son, Jason, to cancer. As hard as it was to lose their child, Terry and Connie’s love came through the tragedy and they built a strong life in Washington as Connie ran a successful daycare. He finished his career as a truck driver.
Terry and Connie resided in Washington until the time of Connie’s passing of cancer in 2017. After Connie passed, Terry moved back to North Dakota to be with his son, Chad.
While back in North Dakota, Terry enjoyed spending his time with Chad and his friends. He spent a big part of his days watching Bison football games, playing cards, watching pool, and NFL games on Sundays. Terry also kept in touch with many of Connie’s daycare families from Washington.
Terry was an avid Packers, Mariners, and Bison fan. You rarely saw him without his favorite sports team apparel along with one of his teams cozies for his Bud Light. The only thing Terry loved more than his sports teams were his family and friends. Terry did whatever he had to for his family and friends. He rarely missed an opportunity to be at reunions, graduations, weddings, or just plain old get-togethers. His love for his family and friends was second to none and will be missed by all.
Terry is survived by his son, Chad; brothers, Greg (Shelly), Tom, Willy (Barb), Scott (Cindy), Mark (Sue), and Randy; sisters, Mary (Mike) Otkin, and Laura (Gary) Hale.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie; son, Jason; parents, William and Olivia Werlinger; brothers, Mike, Tim, Rodger, Gary, and Yogi. Along with numerous uncles, aunts, and other extended family.
