Victoria “Vicki” Ann Lyson Woodbeck Luptak, 82, Dickinson, died on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Benedictine Living Community, Dickinson. Vicki’s Liturgy of Word will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Deacon Bob Zent presiding. Inurnment will take place at the Dickinson Mausoleum.

Victoria “Vicki” Ann Lyson was born on November 7, 1943 in Stanley to Arnold and Ella (Mahlum) Lyson. Arnold and Ella later divorced, and Ella married Jerome King. Jerome was Vicki’s stepdad from five years old on.

Vicki defied so many odds with various illnesses growing up. As a young child she had rheumatic fever, was paralyzed and spent many months in the hospital. She wasn’t expected to leave the hospital. She proved the doctors wrong. They then told her parents that Vicki would not live to be an adult. Once again, she defied those odds.

Vicki attended Catholic boarding school and later received her GED.

Vicki spent summers at Clear Lake with her cousins growing up. They would all gather to play baseball in the fields at the farm. She never hesitated to include everyone in the fun. She was always thoughtful, she made sure all the kids and dogs were included in hikes, games, picnics, or whatever was going on. Her mom told everyone they had to be very careful around Vicki. Ella constantly tried to get Vicki to slow down and rest, but she wasn’t about to miss time with cousins until she started dating.

She met Gary Woodbeck at a dance hall and later married on January 28, 1961. Together they had four children, Guy, Ellen, Sandy, and Stacey. Gary passed on August 16, 1982. Shortly after Vicki was diagnosed with breast cancer. Once again, an illness was supposed to take her life, but she beat the odds. Her cancer returned in her lymph nodes. Vicki was a very strong-willed courageous woman. Nothing was going to take her down before she was ready!

She later met Gerald “Jerry” Luptak in Dickinson, and they married on October 18, 1996 in Redmond, WA. Together they moved back to Stanley to be near her parents and aid in taking care of them. They bought a cute little house in Stanley where they resided for over 20 years.

Vicki had two major strokes in February of 2001. She was left paralyzed on her left side. She was a resident at Trinity Homes in Minot until Sandy and Ronny were able to move her to Benedictine Living Community in Dickinson to be closer to them for the last six months of her life.

Vicki loved playing cards, puzzles, reading, being social, going up to the local café to have coffee with her friends, fishing, and family. She cherished her family and loved family get-togethers.

Vicki is survived by her son, Guy (Tina) Woodbeck, Auburn, WA; her daughter, Sandra (Ron) Hendrickson, Dickinson; her sister, Janet Jensen, Stanley; grandchildren, Jera May Woodbeck, Tiffany Woodbeck, Nathan Henke, and Johnathan Henke; one great-granddaughter, Alina “Silas” Woodbeck; and her boys, Gus and Sparkey.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gary Woodbeck and Gerald Luptak; daughter, Ellen Woodbeck; son, Stacey Woodbeck; her parents, Ella (Jerome) King and Arnold Lyson; in-laws, Walter and Ella Woodbeck, Elmer and Veronica Luptak; sister, Vivian (Lawrence) Meyer; brother, Gilbert Lyson; great-grandson, Aiden Woodbeck; brother-in-law, Earl Jensen; and numerous extended family members.
