Lorraine was born May 13, 1930 in Dickinson and grew up near Lefor on a farm. She is the oldest daughter of Joseph and Sophie Martin. She married Joseph K. Jordan on September 27, 1949 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lefor.
She spent her lifetime farming and raising five children. Mom was best known for her creativity in decorating cakes for over 70 years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafting and playing bingo. She was an officer of Christian Mothers at St. Elizabeth’s and helped create the Lefor Cookbook of German-Hungarian heritage. This cookbook is still in print today. She was also a 4-H leader for 20 years and a long-time member of St. Elizabeth’s choir.
Mom’s heart was busy with family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren which brought her pure joy. Mom especially enjoyed our lake family reunions when she had all of her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren around her.
Lorraine is survived by her five children, Gary (Karen) Jordan, Sioux Fall, SD, Ron (Susie) Jordan, Fort Myers Beach, FL, Corine Jordan, The Villages, FL, Gene (Denise) Jordan, Bismarck, and Janel (Dean) Karsky, Sioux Falls, SD. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Kristen (Kyle) Burbank, Ashley Alletag, Candice (Andrew) Gee, Derrick (Kendra) Karsky, Ryan (Laura) Alletag, Collin (Riley) Karsky, Heather (Zach) Hagberg, Brittany (Ben) Schwieters, Kaylee (Cole) Gebhart and Brian Jordan, as well as 12 great-grandchildren: Mia Burbank, Ava Burbank, Andra Karsky, Kapri Karsky, Felicity Alletag, Brooks Schwieters, Rylan Karsky, Luke Alletag, Brynlee Hagberg, Beau Schwieters, Wesley Gebhart, Jordan Gee and Tobias Alletag. Mom’s humor, love and light will live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
