Born on May 7, 1946, Dickinson, Al was the son of George A. and Mary (Kolling) Sadowsky. He attended St. Patrick’s Grade School through the sixth grade and graduated from Dickinson High School in 1964. Al continued his education at the North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) in Wahpeton. It was during this time at “Science School” that he met the love of his life and future wife, Becky Adams.

In March 1968, Al was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He proudly served his country while stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge in February 1970. His time in the service remained a point of pride throughout his life.

Upon his marriage and return to Dickinson, Al joined the family business, GA Sadowsky and Son. An entrepreneur at heart, he started Tiger Discount Truck Stop in 1982, which became a staple in the local community. In 1996, the family legacy continued where his son, Todd, joined the business, working alongside Al for many years.

Al and Becky Adams were united in marriage on April 25, 1970. Together, they built a home and raised two children, Melissa and Todd. Al was a devoted family man who took great joy in watching his children and six grandchildren grow.

Al was a man of diverse interests and a keen eye for craftsmanship. He was an avid collector of wristwatches and had a deep-seated love for sports cars, particularly Porsches. He took great pleasure in being behind the wheel, whether he was driving or simply maintaining his collection. Al also had a lifelong fascination with technology. He was a true early adaptor, always staying on the cutting edge of the latest phones, computers, and gadgets, often discovering new technology well before it became mainstream. When he wasn’t exploring the latest tech or out on the road, Al was often found with a book in hand or traveling the world with Becky. He was also a long-time member of the Elks Club.

Al is survived by his wife, Becky Sadowsky; his children, Melissa (Vic) Sparks of Henning, MN, and Todd (Tammy) Sadowsky of Dickinson; and his six grandchildren, Levi Sparks, Gabe (Katie) Sparks, Meghan Sparks, Christina Sadowsky, Nicole Sadowsky, and Alyssa Sadowsky. He is also survived by his sisters, Susie (Dan) Lacher of Bismarck, and Cathy (Ty) Johnson of Paonia, CO; as well as his brother-in-law, John Dwyer of Butte, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Bonnie Dwyer.
