Alan Amsterberg, 57, Dickinson formerly of Williston, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at MedCenter One, Bismarck following a short battle with cancer. Alan’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the First Congregational/United Church of Christ with Rev. James Hessler officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans Drill Team following the service. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday with the family present to visit with friends at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Alan Amsterberg was born August 23, 1950 at Williston, the son of Howard and Edith (Marcuson) Amsterberg. He was raised and educated in Williston. Alan served honorably in the United States Army in Viet Nam from 1970 to 1971 and upon his discharge he returned to Williston.

Alan married Diane Iverson on May 4, 1974 in Williston. They lived in Williston until 1992 when they moved to Dickinson. While in Williston he worked as a carpet and other flooring installer. When they moved to Dickinson, Alan went to work for Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing, where he was working at the time of his death. In his spare time he enjoyed going fishing and will always be remembered as willing to lend a hand to others.

Alan is survived by his wife, Diane; their two sons, Darin Amsterberg and Ryan Amsterberg both of Mandan; one sister, Dona (Barry) Forsberg, Williston; and one niece, Keely Forsberg, Williston. He was preceded in death by his parents.
