Alan Wilfred Roller was born June 7, 1951 in Dickinson, the son of Louie and Balbina (Huschka) Roller. He was raised and educated in Belfield, where he attended Belfield High School.

He joined the United States Navy on March 11, 1970 and served honorably to his discharge on March 8, 1974. While in the Navy he served on a ship in it’s boiler room, sailing to Japan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.

He loved watching football and baseball, especially when his two favorite teams were playing, which were the Green Bay Packers and the New York Yankees. A good game of poker or cribbage was easy to talk him into. Buggs loved to gamble and meet up with his friends at Burly’s Bar or the Rusty Rail to order take-out. His favorite meal was ribeye steak, but he did enjoy cooking Chinese food or making sausage.
