Alex Stockert, 90, Dickinson, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson surrounded by his family. Alex’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, January 27, 2025 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 6 p.m. with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Monday.

Alexander J. Stockert was born December 12, 1934 in New England to Dominick and Agnes (Reisenauer) Stockert. He grew up on the family farm.

Alex was united in marriage to June Stradinger on November 14, 1953 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson. They lived in Kansas where he worked for Gulf Oil Exploration and Oklahoma for a period of time prior to returning to the New England area where they took over the Stockert family farm in 1958. Together they operated the farm for the next 42 years. Alex received the Soil Conservation Award in 1987. Alex and June moved to Dickinson in 2000.

He was involved in Hume Township Board, St. Mary’s Church-President of the Parish Board, Trustees of St. Mary’s Church Board, St. Mary’s Foundation Board, and served as a 4th Degree Knight. He was also on the Memorial Hall Restoration Committee and Southwest Grain Board when it was formed. Alex was also a member of Queen of Peace. He loved to play cards, loved his family deeply and cherished his wonderful friends.

Alex is survived by his children, Karen Stinehart, Diane (Gary) Paul, Ginger Steinman, Pat (Sandy) Stockert, Sandy (Kelly) VanderVorste; grandchildren, Tim (Tamara) Stinehart, Jeremy Stinehart, Tracey Paul, Kelly (Rachel) Magelky, Ryan (Sara) Steinman, Alexis (Eric) Wanek, Tony Stockert, Carly (Joe) Chambers, Hayley VanderVorste, and Kayla (Jace) Myron; great-grandchildren, Kirk, Kadyn, Kamdyn, Kynlee, Alexia, Uma, Rowan, Flynn, Julie, Lucy, Tucker, and George; siblings, Raymond (Millie) Stockert, Edward (Ann) Stockert, Larry (Jodi) Stockert, and Irene (Pete) Heidt; sister-in-law, Jean Stockert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his wife, June, on January 20, 2016; his parents; son-in-law, Loren Stinehart; brothers, Valentine (Angie), Martin, and Eugene.
