Alfred “Al” M. Hecker, 66, of Wheeling, IL, died Friday, March 25, 2022.  Al’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., August 2, 2022 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield with Fr. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Inurnment will take place at St. Bernard’s Cemetery.

He was born August 20, 1955 in Dickinson to Frank G. and Emma (Thomas) Hecker. He was raised and educated in Belfield, graduating from Belfield High School. He joined the United States Army and served honorably from 1974 to 1976.

Al was united in marriage to Lynne Engesser in June 1977 and to this union two children were born, Tara and Brad. In July 1985, Al married Cynthia Specht and together they had two children, Patrick and Angela.

He has lived in the Chicago area for the past 45 years where he was employed by Chicago Classic Coach for 16 years as a charter bus driver. Al enjoyed camping, bowling, riding horses, and he loved his coffee.

Al leaves behind four children, Tara Pokorney of Nebraska, MSG Bradley Hecker of New York, Patrick Hecker of South Carolina, and Angela Blount of Nevada. He had 16 grandchildren. He also leaves behind siblings, Archie (Carol) LeDoux of Illinois, Arvella Simpson (twin) of Washington, Donna (James) Barnett of Belfield, Anna May Borst of Montana, and Terry Crawford of Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as numerous friends that he regarded as family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Heather Crawford; nephews, Frankie Gawryluk, Richard Simpson, Tommy Simpson; and brother-in-law, John Simpson.
