As a small child moved with her family to a farm north of Dunn Center where she was raised and educated, having graduated from Dunn Center High School. She then attended Dickinson State Teachers College and obtained her four year elementary teaching degree. Alice began teaching and over a period of numerous years she enjoyed teaching many wonderful children at the elementary level. One of her looked forward to highlights was the annual Christmas Programs put on by the children.
Alice married Orris M. Bang on July 9, 1944. Together they made their home in the Killdeer Mountain area where they farmed, ranched and raised their family on a hard and honest work ethic. They believed in and were very active in their community. She belonged to the Killdeer Mountain Homemakers Club, St. John’s Ladies Serving group (WICA), the Hobby Club, District Cowbells and Beef for Fathers Day. She loved to entertain, work in her garden and rose beds, baking and cooking.
Alice is survived by her three children, Kayleen (George) Nodland, Dickinson, Marleen (Chuck) Lowman, Sidney, Mont., and Terrald (Carol) Bang, Killdeer; her brother, Rueben (Phyllis) Knutson; sisters-in-law, Vivian Knutson and Bethel Knutson; seven grandchildren, Kamelle, Garrett, Channon, Melani, Taylor, Todd and Becki; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great, great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orris on August 19, 2007; her parents; two sisters, Bernice Gould and Mildred Carlson; and two brothers, Kenneth and Gilman Knutson.
