Alice S. Hammond October 26, 1925 - November 7, 2012

Alice S. Hammond passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in Dickinson, with her family by her side. Alice had been living in Dickinson to be near her son Robert and family. A service and interment will be at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, N.M.

Alice was born October, 26, 1925 in Maxwell, N.M. to Felix and Victoria (Gallegos) Sandoval. Alice graduated from Raton High School, Raton, N.M. in 1944. After graduation she worked as a secretary for the U.S. Army at Camp Luna, Las Vegas, N.M. transferring to Los Alamos Scientific Lab, Los Alamos, N.M as a secretary.

Alice married Orvar J. Hammond October 14, 1950 in Gallop, N.M. Alice and Orvar lived in Los Alamos where both worked at the Los Alamos Scientific Lab. Later they lived in Albuquerque, N.M where she worked at Kirkland Air Force Base and Las Vegas, Nev. where Orvar worked with EG&G Defense Contractors. Alice retired to Albuquerque, N..M. after Orvar passed away in August, 1985.

Alice is survived by her son Robert J Hammond, Dickinson; four grandchildren, Christopher J. Hammond, Bellingham, Wash., Nicollett M. Hammond (Spencer Whitlow -fiance), Charlotte, N.C., Alice Ann Dubose Thompson and Brenda Lindey of South Carolina; and two great-granddaughters Heather Autry and Christy Thompson also of South Carolina. She is also survived by a sister Virginia Turner, Albuquerque; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and daughter-in-law Rita Hammond. Alice had numerous cherished friends she leaves behind.

Alice was preceded in death by her daughter Victoria Thompson; grandson Judge Dubose; her parents; sisters Lola, Mary, May, Clara; and a brother Alfonso.
