Allen G. Nygaard, 89, Belfield, ND, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Dickinson CountryHouse, Dickinson, ND. Allen’s funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 3, 2007 at Belfield Lutheran Church, Belfield with Reverend Roger Dieterle officiating, interment will follow at Belfield Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson and will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Allen was born June 19, 1917, at Hickson, ND to Lars and Kari (Johnson) Nygaard. Allen attended school in Wilverton, MN. As a young man, Allen began helping on farms in the Hickson area and continued to do so until 1947 when he became a heavy equipment operator for Skoles Construction. Allen was a heavy equipment operator until he retired in 1987, his last job being with Northern Improvement. Allen’s proficiency became widely known as he was known at that time to be the “best blade man in the state.”

Allen married Dorothy (Birgenheier) Lindbo on September 2, 1972. Allen was a member of the Belfield Senior Center, Belfield Lutheran Church, and Operating Engineers #49. Allen enjoyed reading western novels, watching television, and playing cribbage, but time with his family was a special joy to him.

Allen is survived by his son, Kenneth Nygaard; five step-sons, Len (Tammy) Lindbo, Dickinson, Keith and Kevin (Caroline) Lindbo, both of Morro Bay, CA, Calmer Fahlsing, NM, Terry Fahlsing, Hazen, ND; two step-daughters, Esther Sailer, Mandan, ND, and Vickie Pulver, Billings, MT; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Allen was preceded in death by his wives, Delores (Jess) Nygaard, ReCal (Rude) Nygaard, and Dorothy (Birgenheier) Nygaard; five brothers, Robert, Chester, Alfred, Vernon, and Herbert; and three sisters, Pearl Lang, Edith Nygaard, and Grace Richards; two step-sons, Neale and Wayne Fahlsing; and one step-daughter, Tammy Wall.
