Alpha Haug, 90, formerly of Dickinson, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Alpha’s funeral service will be at 11 am, Thursday, May 1, 2008 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson with Rev. Steven Tangen officiating. Interment will follow at the Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Alpha Cors was born July 10, 1917 in New Leipzig, ND, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Schulz) Cors. She was raised and educated in the New Leipzig area.
Alpha Married Stanley M. Haug on June 23, 1940. They lived in the Maddock area, Portland, OR, and the Starkweather area prior to moving to Dickinson in 1958. Alpha worked as the office manager for the Oasis Motel for 25 years. In September of 2005 she moved to Mandan and December of 2007 became a resident of the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.
Alpha was an active member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bridge games with friends, sewing, embroidery, crocheting and ironing. Alpha was an avid sports fan, especially loyal to the Dickinson Midgets, St. Mary’s Saints, DSC Savages and the University of Mary Marauders.
Alpha is survived by two sons, Roger S. (Sue) Haug, Mandan, and Richard (Meroe) Haug, Bismarck; five grandchildren, Mike (Peg) Haug, Bismarck, Craig (Kris) Haug, Mandan, Pat (Renae) Haug, Mandan, Michele (Bil) Rydquist, Bismarck, and Lisa (Mark) Hatlestad, Billings, Mont.; 11 great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren; one sister, Leona Kirkey, Bellevue, WA; and three nieces all living out of state. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley on October 26, 1967, her parents, and two brothers, Alvin Cors and LeRoy Cors.
