Anna M. Dennis, 87, Dickinson, died Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the Evergreen. Anna’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Jeff Zwack as the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary & vigil at 6 p.m., with Deacon Jerry Volk presiding.

Anna Skurupey was born April 23, 1923, the oldest child of John and Rose (Repetowski) Skurupey. She was raised on the family farm near Snow, and attended school near her home.

Anna married Lloyd Dennis on April 24, 1941 in Belfield. They lived northeast of Belfield where they farmed and ranched. Following their retirement they moved to Karlsruhe and then to Dickinson.

Anna was a wonderful bread baker, and she enjoyed a good book, music and writing letters. Her love for people extended to volunteering at nursing homes where she led the rosary for many years. Anna was known as one of the “Amen Ladies”, and she made a friend with whomever she met.

Anna is survived by 11 children, Marge Palaniuk, Bismarck, Carol Sayler, Bismarck, Valerie (Glenn) Ness, Minot, Patti (Dennis) Hellman, Helena, Mont., Daryle (Mary) Dennis, Amidon, Gloria (Gary) Trauger, Watford City, Brien (Shelley) Dennis, Killdeer, Bob (Sandi) Dennis, Bismarck, Shannon (Marcy) Dennis, Dickinson, Jim (Elaine) Dennis, New Town and David (Patti) Dennis, Moorhead, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Susann (Keith) Wolf, Belfield; 33 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren; five siblings, Marie Makaruk, Dickinson, Betty Kadrmas, Belfield, Kathy Brunsvold, Bismarck, Fred (Arlene) Skurupey, Blacksburg, Va. and Tony Skurupey, Belfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981; her parents; three children, Mary Ellen, Daniel and Jonathan; a granddaughter, Jennifer; brother, Walter Skurupey; two sons-in-law, Elko Palaniuk and Gene Sayler; and two brothers-in-law, Ben Makaruk and Frank Kadrmas.
