Anne Narum, 88, Dickinson, died Friday, August 21, 2009 at the St. Benedict’s Health Center. Anne’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant and Msgr. Gerald Walsh as con-celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan on Wednesday. Military honors will be provided by the Dickinson Veterans Honors Team following the Mass. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Anne L. Lisko was born July 14, 1921 in Dickinson, the daughter of Anton and Mary (Fisher) Lisko. She was raised and educated in Dickinson, having graduated from Dickinson High School. She went on to attend Dickinson State Teachers College where she received her Teaching Certificate. Anne had taught in a country school for a period of time following.

Anne joined the United States Army on October 21, 1943 and served Honorably until her discharge on April 7, 1946. Upon returning to North Dakota she met and eventually married Orville Narum on October 28, 1946 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson.

With the kids getting older, Anne went to work at the college book store for two years an then became the secretary at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for the next 13 1/2 years. Her husband Orville died on August 8, 1998.

Anne belonged to the American Legion, and also the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing and an occasional trip to the casino.

Anne is survived by five children, Claudia (Marvin) Dorner, Dickinson, Gene (Kathy) Narum, Walhalla, David (Mary) Narum, Westminster, Colo., Mary Narum, Denver, Colo., and Julie (Jerry) Scherr, Dickinson; one sister, Mary Bailey, Dickinson; 10 grandchildren, Marvin (Sharon) Dorner, Dean (Stacey) Dorner, Kimberly (Scott) Weiler, Jennifer Narum, Stephanie (Charles) Maerk, Janelle Narum, Michael (Lena) Narum, Sara Narum, Chelsey Scherr and Christopher Scherr; nine great-grandchildren; and four sisters-in-law, Bertha Lisko, Clara Lisko, Mildred Brentrup and Carrie Narum. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, her parents, four sisters, and six brothers.
