Anthony “Al” Malsom, 78, Dickinson, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023 at CHI St. Alexius, Dickinson. Al’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Robert Shea as the celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Al Schwindt presiding.

Anthony “Al” Malsom was born April 5, 1945 in Eureka, SD to Anton and Catherine (Zacher) Malsom.

Al worked for Sweetheart Bakery where he met the love of his life Florence Seiler. They were married for 15 years and raised two sons together. Al worked for the Sweetheart Bakery for over 25 years before his retirement. He also served as a facilitator at the Richardton Abbey.

Al enjoyed water skiing, playing the accordion, camping in Rapid City, SD, and old time music. He was always very adventurous and made many friends easily and was friendly to all.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, on November 6, 2001; his parents; brothers, Steven and Chuck Malsom; sisters, Ardell (Duane) Mertes, Janice Malsom and Mary Ann Malsom; in-laws, Magdalena Seiler and Don Seiler.

Al is survived by his sons, Travis (Mary Beth) Hoffman, Dickinson and Troy Hoffman, Eagle, CO; grandchildren, Braedyn and Brooklyn Hoffman; siblings, Ace (Patti) Malsom, Laramie, WY, Rose (James) Heyne, Hosmer, SD, Arnold (Charlene) Malsom, Thornton, CO, Mary (Floyd) Mohr, Bowdle, SD, and Barbara (Anton) Schumacher, Kindred; in-laws, Sue (Wayne) Westerness, New Salem and Connie (Karl) Schroeder, Mandan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by countless friends that he gained throughout the years, and all of his breakfast buddies at Country Rose Café.
