Anton Hecker was born December 7, 1920 on the family ranch near Fairfield, to Louie M. and Christina (Heinz) Hecker. After completing his education in country schools, Anton began working full time on the family ranch. During his early days on the ranch, Anton would need to harness up to eight horses each morning to do the tilling, seeding, and mowing. Because a lot of work was done on horseback, Anton took numerous falls but was always ready to get back on and continue until the job was done. Anton also spent several years working for the CCC. Anton moved to Dickinson in January 2009.
Anton is survived by one brother, Raymond, Fairfield; three sisters, Anna Obritsch, Dickinson, Emily Knudtson, Dickinson, and Francis Traver, Thompson Falls, Mont, and several nieces and nephews. Anton was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Monica Sobo and Elizabeth Hartinger and one brother, Andrew Hecker.
