Appolonia Teresa Anton was born on May 31, 1932, to Christ K. and Katherine (Blasy) Anton in Lefor. One of fourteen children, she was raised on a farm and attended a country school in the Lefor area.

She married Bohumel “Taft” Krehlik on November 21, 1951. They farmed and ranched north of Belfield until the time of Taft’s death in 1984. Appolonia worked hard on the farm helping Taft outside and also taking wonderful care of her family. She loved to cook and bake. You would see her with a cookbook in her hand, dreaming about what to make. Appolonia always made huge portions so you never left her table hungry. Also, she was an awesome gardener. Canning and raising chickens kept her busy, along with sewing or embroidering. You could find Appolonia giggling and loving on her grandchildren. In fact she was called “Grandma Happy” by her grandchildren which fit her to a tee.

After Taft’s death she moved to Dickinson. On June 27, 1990 she married Anton Fichter. Appolonia and Tony traveled many places and spent many years in Arizona. They traveled every state west of the Mississippi. In 1996 they even traveled to Florida.

Appolonia is survived by her husband, Anton Fichter; her children, Mary Kaye (Neil) Knudsen, Bainville, Mont., and Allen (Lisa) Krehlik, Fargo, step-children, Janell (Dennis) Stradinger, Dickinson, Terry (Karla) Fichter, Dickinson, and Carrie Fichter, Colorado; grandchildren, Aaron and Ayden Knudsen, Brooklyn and Alli Krehlik, Paul Fichter, Kyleen (Kyle) Worfold and Elijah Gott; one great-grandchild, Arabella Worfold; two sisters, Cathleen (Victor) Oukrop, Taylor and Mary Ann (Don) Chantry, Rapid City, SD; sisters-in-law, Hattie Anton, Dickinson, Loretta Anton, Yuma, Ariz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
