Arlan J. Goetz, 71, Richardton, died Thursday, November 6, 2008 at his home. Arlan’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Visitation will be Monday, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.. There will be a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. Monday with Deacon Larry Dorrheim presiding at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Arlan J. Goetz was born January 31, 1937 to Joseph and Susanna (Bayer) Goetz. He was raised on the family farm south of Richardton. He attended country school and Assumption Abbey and graduated from Model High School, Dickinson. After graduation, Arlan moved to California and worked for the El Monte School District. Arlan married Eva Weiler in 1956 at Dickinson, Eva died in 1961. Arlan married Norita Dinius at Las Vegas, Nev., in 1962. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed cooking, farming, and working on anything mechanical. In 1997 Arlan retired from teaching and moved back to the family farm.
Arlan is survived by Norita; five children, Dean, Richardton, Michele (Charlie) Heinz, Troy, Mont., Joyce Wright, Little Rock, Ark., Bernadette, Richardton, and Gregory, New England; one step-daughter, Connie (Tommie) Mitchell, Kansas City, Mo.; four sisters; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Eva.
