I, Arlene Geerts was born in Dubuque, Iowa on August 20, 1923, daughter of Fred and Christina (Schueller) Geerts. In fall of 1924, along with my parents and four older sisters, we moved via the Milwaukee Railroad to North Dakota to a farm northwest of Regent where I grew up. I attended school through eighth grade at Horswill School No. 1, a half mile from home. Besides helping out at home, I did housework and sometimes farm work for folks in and around the Regent area. I also worked at the Regent Co-op Store.

On August 7, 1946 I was married to Frank Reindel at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Regent. We lived in Regent and raised our family of four boys and two girls. In 1965, we moved to a farm north of Regent, where we were grain and dairy farmers. We also delivered eggs to homes in Regent for ten years.

I was a member of St. Henry’s Church Guild, the American Legion Auxiliary of Regent for several years. In 1987, because of Frank’s health, we moved to Dickinson. I enjoyed gardening, stitch work, reading, playing cards, visiting and spending time with family and friends.

I am survived by my children, Arlin (LaVon) Reindel, New England, Bernard Reindel, Harvey, Rita (Kevin) Stoltz, New England, Carl (Pam) Reindel, The Dalles, Ore. and DeEtta (Darrell) Frank, Dickinson; daughter-in-law, Karla (Terry Fichter) Reindel, Dickinson; grandchildren, Kim (Scott) Hoppe, Craig (Jolene Britton) Reindel, Wendi (Corey) Johnston, Aaron (Melissa) Stoltz, Tracy (Mackinzie) Reindel, Aubrey Courtier, Laura (Casey) Wallman and Jodi (Andy) Tomanek; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Frederick Geerts, Regent; and numerous nieces and nephews.

I was preceded in death by my parents; husband, Frank on August 5, 1996; son, Raymond “Butch” Reindel on September 5, 2001; four sisters, Bernice (Joe) Pechtl, Loretta (Ralph) Wilcox, Dorothy (John) Jacobs, and Marie Geerts; niece, Mary Ann Krebs; and sister-in-law, Albina Geerts.
