Arnie was born on July 15, 1951, in Dickinson to Fred and Lillian (Kadrmas) Badinger. He lived most of his life in Dickinson attending St. Joseph’s Catholic Grade School and Trinity High School for two years, until his family moved to Fargo where he graduated from Fargo South High School. After high school, he attended DSU and obtained a degree from Forrest Brenner School of Court Reporting in Denver, Colorado. In 1974, he was appointed court reporter for the Stark County Court System and served in that capacity for more than 15 years. He then moved back to Fargo where he worked at Valley Ford car dealership as a salesperson. He enjoyed selling cars and received the Salesperson of the Month award multiple times and Salesperson of the Year for 2001. Deciding that the cold Fargo weather was not for him, he returned to Dickinson and worked at KMM until his retirement.
Following his dad’s musical footsteps, Arnie belonged to several local bands as the drummer and part-time vocalist. He was a fun-loving guy and enjoyed most sports. He was always ready to gather a team of his friends and plan a celebration after the game; win or lose. In his younger days, he played softball, golfed, bowled, and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. He loved to hang out with his friends every chance he could. As the years went on, he became an avid television spectator of all sports and enjoyed talking about the last game he watched, which team he liked, criticizing the losses, and bragging over the wins of the team he was cheering for.
Arnie was very fond and proud of his nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending holidays with them, hearing stories about them growing up and their accomplishments.
Arnie is survived by his sisters, Sally Grim, Moorhead, MN, and Susie (Don) Maus, Dickinson; brother, Mike (Linda) Badinger, Carson City, NV; nine nieces and nephews; 18 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
