Arnold Simon, 84, New England, died Thursday, August 28, 2014 at his home. Arnold’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.
Arnold A. Simon was born March 13, 1930 in Hettinger County, the son of Anton and Annie (Jung) Simon. He attended rural Rice School #1 in Stark County, and then graduated from St. Mary’s High School with the Class of 1948.
He farmed his entire life on the Simon homestead. Arnold was a quiet (private), honest, kind hearted person. He loved to read, especially about alternative medicine. He enjoyed working the farm and caring for his cattle. On March 18, 2012 his farm was destroyed by a fire, which saddened him deeply.
He is survived by two sisters, Marlene (Norman) Anton, and Virginia (Raymond) Anton, Mansfield, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lorraine Stoltz, and Mary (Carl) Koppinger; and nephew, Ron Anton.
