Arnold V. Roller, 76, New England, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Arnold’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England, with Fr. Patrick Moore, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, with Military honors provided by the New England American Legion Anton Ulijohn Post #66. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service, and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church, with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Arnold Victor Roller was born July 3, 1935 in Hettinger County, the son of Vincent P. and Magdalen (Selinger) Roller, the eldest of 12 children. Arnie graduated from St. Mary’s High School in New England in 1953.
He entered the Army in 1958, served in Germany with an honorable discharge in 1960. After his discharge, he worked at the briquetting plant in Dickinson until it closed. He also worked in maintenance at St. Mary’s School. Later Arnie worked at New England Standard and eventually purchased the station and named it Tip Top Auto, which he continued to operate until his illness, at which time he entered the St. Luke’s Home.
Arnie enjoyed mechanic work, renovating old vehicles and going fishing.
Arnie is survived by 10 siblings, Leonard J. Roller, New England, Rita (Walt) Steiner, Dickinson, Ann (Nelson) Strecker, Billings, Mont., Paul (Vickie) Roller, Billings, Mont., Francis (Carol) Roller, Anoka, Minn., Mary Jane (Merle) Annis, Glyndon, Minn., Mike (Karen) Roller, Bismarck, Bernice (Larry) Imhoff, Kalispell, Mont., Louise (Fred) Kiefer, Williamsville, N.Y., and Stephen (Peggy) Roller, New England; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Agnes Hoffer.
