Barbara Adams-Bleth, 72, formerly of Dickinson, N.D. died Tuesday December 30, 2014 on a cruise ship en route to Bora Bora, French Polynesia. A memorial service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2015 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.
Barbara Wilson was born in Buffalo, S.D. on October 24, 1942 to Frederick and Barbara Wilson. Barbara was raised on a ranch in Harding County, S.D. and attended elementary school and high school in Buffalo, S.D. She attended South Dakota State University in Bookings, S.D. where she was involved in a wide variety of activities; including a theatrical production of “Oklahoma” and being a cheerleader for the men’s basketball team when they won a National Championship in 1963.
Over the years she has lived many places, but Aberdeen, S.D. and Dickinson, N.D. are where she called home the longest. In 2007 she moved to Tavares, Florida to enjoy the sunshine and her retirement.
Barbara had a tremendous work ethic which she applied to a number of different occupations, including her career as a financial advisor at Edward Jones. Barbara loved travel and loved boating. Lake Sakakawea was one of her favorite places on Earth. She spent many days in her sailboat, the Destiny Ten exploring. She loved sharing her passion for the lake and was delighted to host family and friends on her boat. Barbara was also very well traveled and never lost her desire to keep exploring and experiencing new adventures.
Her grandchildren were a source of pride and joy for Barbara. They truly were the “apples of her eye”.
Barbara is survived by her two children; son Steve (Angela) Cole, Dickinson N.D.; and daughter Terri (James) Young, Larsen, Wis. Her grandchildren are Chance and Connor Cole, and Madeline and Cole Young. Barbara is also survived by all her siblings; Terrill Eckert, Leesburg, Fla.; Fred (Judee) Wilson, Belle Fourche, S.D.; Julie (Michael) Lipparelli, Eustis, Fla.; Linda Wilson, Tavares, Fla.; Sharon Jenkins, Sommerset, S.D.; and Tom (Lori) Wilson, Buffalo, S.D. She was preceded in death by her parents Barbara and Fred Wilson.
