Barbara E. Freed, 76, Dickinson, ND, died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Barbara’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Jerry Kautzman as the celebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a Catholic Daughters rosary and vigil led by Deacon Jerry Volk at 7 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Barbara Day was born March 15, 1931 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Everette and Helen (Roney) Day. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Paul, MN, in 1948 and attended the College of St. Catherine for three years.
Barbara married Howard A. Freed on June 14, 1952 and they moved to Dickinson in 1953. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a charter member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Barbara was a member of the Catholic Daughters, a past member of Chapter B, PEO and an associate member of the Dorcas Society.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Howard; their four children, Mary Freed, Dickinson, Bob Freed, Bismarck, ND, Tom Freed, Seattle, WA, and Kathy (Ron) Doerr, Rapid City, SD; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joan (Russ) Erb, Henderson, NV. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to either the Trinity Foundation or to the American Cancer Society.
