Barbara Kary, 97, Dickinson died Saturday, August 23, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Barbara’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Jim Braaten as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Ron Wolberg presiding.
Barbara Boehm was born January 18, 1911 in Odessa, Russia, the daughter of Casper and Veronica (Boehm) Boehm. As an infant she came to the United States with her family and she was raised and educated in the Grassy Butte area.
Barbara married Mike Kary on May 28, 1933 at St. Edwards Catholic Church at Fayette. They lived and farmed in the Fayette community until 1968 when they retired and moved into Dickinson. Barbara’s husband Mike died May 16, 2005.
Barbara is survived by four children, Beverly (Ralph) Haag, Dickinson, June Stevenson, Spokane, Wash., Gerald Kary, Dickinson and Ron (Susan) Kary, Dickinson; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Rose Boehm, Henderson, Nev.. She was preceded in death by her husband; four sisters; Mary (John) Ferderer, Clem (Orville) Wellock, Betty (Roy) Kary and Margaret (Forrest) Spittler; four brothers, Dominick Boehm, Anton (Deloris) Boehm, Christ (Rose) Boehm and Jake Boehm; one daughter-in-law, Colleen Kary; son-in-law, Jim Stevenson; and one granddaughter, Susie Hauff.
