Barbara Rohr, 88, Dickinson, met the face of Jesus on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. She waited eight years to be with her beloved husband once again, to stand by his side in the Glory of God. Barbara’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2015 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Gladstone, with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a rosary at 1 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Barbara Krous was born May 10, 1926, in Hettinger County west of Mott, one of 11 children of John and Rose (Lantz) Krous. Growing up on the farm, she and her brothers herded sheep, as there were no fences. In 1936 they moved to Mount Angel, Ore., for four years. The family then moved back and lived in the Hirschville Community, where she attended a one room country school. In 1941 they moved 1/4 mile east of Gladstone where she attended high school. Following high school, she worked for Bon Bon Bakery in Dickinson.

On October 22, 1946, Barbara married the love of her life, Victor Rohr, who returned home from the Navy. They started their farming in Dodge and later moved north of Gladstone in Dunn County, where they raised their family, Lonie, Lilah, Lanel, and Lanet, as they continued farming, dairying, ranching, and raising short horn cattle.

In 1987, they semi-retired, moving east of Dickinson where they enjoyed their llamas and miniature horses. Barbara and Victor worked side by side indoors and out. She loved to dance to old time music, and had a passion for baking and decorating cakes. All her grandchildren looked forward to getting their decorated birthday and valentine cakes. Her baked rolls and buns will be missed by many.

The greatest joy in her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her children, Lonie (Donna) Rohr, and their family, Tracy, and Brad (Amanda) Rohr; Lilah (Alan) Krebs, and their family, Tammy (Scott) Crockett, Laura (Lucas) Gregory, Corey (Salina) Krebs, Kyle (fiance-Jamie) Krebs, Brittney and BreeAnn Krebs; Lanel (Terry) Buechler, and their family, Levi and Ali Buechler; and Lanet (Steve) Scherr, and their family, Jessica, Stephanie and Alex Scherr: great-grandchildren, Michael, Chandler, Isaac and Eliana Gregory; Katelyn & Tyler Crockett; Leah, Evelyn and Alexandra Krebs: her sisters, Pauline Berger, Violet (Walter) Kukas, and Mary Leingang: her brothers, Mike (Betty) Krous and Daniel (Gladys) Krous: sisters-in-law, Janet Sickler, Charlene Frank, and Christine Messmer; and brothers-in-law, Richard (Angie) Rohr, and Albert Sickler. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor, of 64 years, who went before her on January 5, 2007; her twin grandchildren, Sarah and Adam Scherr; her parents; sister, Katie Berger; and brothers, John, George, Seb, and Clarence Krous.
